Fuastino Asprilla

Faustino Asprilla joined Newcastle United from Parma for £6.7million in February 1996 and made his league debut in Newcastle's 2–1 win away over Middlesbrough on Saturday 10 February. In 1997/98, Asprilla’s last season for Newcastle, the sale of Les Ferdinand to Tottenham Hotspur, and serious injury to Alan Shearer during pre-season, meant “Tino” was first choice striker alongside Jon Dahl Tomasson.  Cue Asprilla's finest game for The Magpies, as he scored a hat-trick in the 3-2 UEFA Champions League win over Barcelona at St James’ Park. Asprilla was sold back to Parma by Manager Kenny Dalglish in January 1998
