England captain Bobby Moore led West Ham United to their first FA Cup success in the Final against Second Division Preston North End at Wembley on 2 May 1964. Preston, with Seventeen-year old Howard Kendal in their side, at the time, the youngest player to appear in a Wembley FA Cup Final (until West Ham’s Paul Allen became the youngest in 1980), twice took the lead but goals from John Sissons and Geoff Hurst, in turn, twice brought West Ham level before Ronnie Boyce scored the winning goal in the second minute of injury time at the end of 90 minutes. On the way to winning The Cup, West Ham defeated the Cup Holders, Manchester United, 3-1 in the Semi Final, in front of a crowd of 65,000 at Hillsborough with Ronnie Boyce (2) and Geoff Hurst scoring the West Ham goals.

Throughout their victorious 1964 FA Cup winning run, West Ham Manager Ron Greenwood selected the same eleven players for every game; Standen, Burkett, Bond, Bovington, Brown, Moore, Brabrook, Boyce, Byrne, Hurst and Sissons, and West Ham’s 19 goals in the their seven FA Cup games were shared by 5 players; Hurst (7), Byrne (4) Sissons (3), Boyce (3) and Brabrook (2).
