Johan Cruyff joined Barcelona from Ajax, for a then, world record transfer fee in 1973. In Cruyff’s first season, the genius Dutchman led Barcelona to a legendary La Liga Championship, Barcelona’s first La Liga title for 14 years and Cruyff was crowned 1974 European Footballer of the Year. In that 1973-74 season Barcelona were unbeaten all La Liga season at Camp Nou, and Cruyff scored 16 La Liga goals, including the second in a famous 5-0 away win, at Real Madrid. In his last season, Cruyff captained Barcelona to a 3-1 Copa del Rey Final win against Las Palmas in the Santiago Bernabéu Stadium in Madrid.
Johan Cruyff made his Holland debut, aged 19 years and 135 days, on September 9 1966, scoring Holland’s last minute equaliser in a 2-2 draw with Hungary in Rotterdam. For Holland, Cruyff played in 48 matches between 1966 and 1977, scoring 33 goals, including 3 goals in the 1974 World Cup Finals, 10 goals in 12 World Cup Qualifying matches and 12 goals in 12 European Championship Qualifying matches. Holland never lost a match in which Cruyff scored.
