West Ham United 1994 No6 Retro Football Shirt

In memory and in celebration of Bobby Moore, West Ham United played an all-star Premier League XI at The Boleyn Ground on Monday 7 February 1994. The Bobby Moore Memorial Match. The No6 Shirt was not worn in the match. The  Bobby Moore Memorial Match also marked the official opening of The Bobby Moore Stand on the site of the Upton Park South Bank.

Bobby Moore made his West Ham United debut wearing the No6 shirt versus Manchester United in a Football League Division One fixture on Monday 8 September 1958. He was 17 years old. In August 2008, to mark the 50th Anniversary of Bobby Moore's debut, West Ham United retired the No6 shirt. Bobby Moore’s legacy lives on. In the golden memories of his immaculate playing career, and in the charity founded in his honour by his wife Stephanie Moore, the Bobby Moore Fund.

Between 1958 and 1974 Bobby Moore made 647 appearances for The Irons, was Hammer of the Year in 1961, 1963, 1968 and 1970, and captain of the 1964 West Ham United FA Cup winning team, captain of the 1965 West Ham United UEFA European Cup Winners Cup winning team, and captain of the 1966 England FIFA Jules Rimet World Cup winning team.

Bobby Moore OBE. The greatest footballer to play for West Ham United. The 1966 England No6 and World Cup Winning captain. The best defender in the history of the game, and one of the finest footballers ever.

Pelé: "He was my friend as well as the greatest defender I ever played against."

Franz Beckenbauer: "Bobby Moore was the best defender in the history of the game."

Sir Alex Ferguson: "Moore was the best defender I have ever seen."
