West Ham United 1980 Admiral Retro Shirt

A Banksy West Ham United Shirt might look like this? Subversive; Vibrant; Confident; Commercial; Post Modern Football Counter-Culture, and all in Claret and Blue .The West Ham United Claret and Blue Admiral chevron design is a style icon in its own right, and reigned supreme at The Boleyn from 1976 to 1980, and in 1980 The Hammers won The FA Cup, wearing The West Ham United 1980 Admiral Retro Shirt in every 1980 FA Cup tie up until, and excluding the semi-final at Villa Park versus Everton, the semi-final replay against The Toffees at Leeds United's Elland Road, and the 1980 FA Cup Final versus Arsenal at Wembley Stadium.

Second Division West Ham United were drawn away to First Division West Bromwich Albion in the1980 FA Cup 3rd Round. Stuart Pearson put The Irons ahead in the 33rd minute at The Hawthorns, and Phil Parkes produced a goalkeeping masterclass to keep The Baggies out until Cyrille Regis equalised in the very last minute. The Irons won the Upton Park replay four days later with Geoff Pike and Trevor Brooking scoring in the 2-1 victory, to set up a 4th Round tie versus Orient at Brisbane Road. An East London Derby in The FA Cup but, this wasn't just any East London Derby, this was an Admiral Retro Shirt 'Fest' East London Derby. Ex-Iron Tommy Taylor put Orient ahead from the spot on 11 minutes. A Nigel Gray own goal levelled the scores before Ray Stewart struck a 39th minute penalty to put The Irons 1-2 up at the break. John Chidozie equalised for the O's on 66 minutes before Tonka, playing in midfield in the absence of Trevor Brooking, won the day for West Ham in the 81st minute. Brisbane Road that day provided an iconic image of the Hammers 1980 FA Cup run. Bonzo. Billy Bonds. The West Ham captain lead the team out at Brisbane Road swathed in a head bandage to protect a cut accidentally inflicted by 1980 Hammer of the Year Alvin Martin in a Division Two fixture against Preston North End at Deepdale the previous week. Bonzo was superb, and ensured that O's striker and Ex-Iron Billy Jennings was marked out of the game. Swansea City visited Upton Park in the FA Cup 5th Round when Paul Allen and David Cross scored late goals to give West Ham a 2-0 win to put The Hammers into the FA Cup 6th Round when, on Saturday 8 March 1980 with over 36,000 packed into Upton Park, Ray Stewart nervelessly drilled an 89th minute penalty for the only goal of the game to knock First Division Aston Villa out of the FA Cup, and take Second Division West Ham United into the semi-final. The rest is Claret and Blue history. To this day West Ham United 1980 are the last team from outside the Top-Flight of English football to win The FA Cup.
