West Ham United 2005 Play-Off Final Retro Shirt
Bobby Zamora scored the only goal of the 2005 Football League Championship Play-Off Final when West Ham United beat Preston North End 1-0. Zamora struck in the 57th minute from a left wing cross supplied by the 2005 Football League Championship Play-Off Final 'Man of the Match' Matty Etherington. Mark Noble, warming up behind the Preston North End goal at the time, had the best view of Zamora's winner in front of the massed Claret and Blue ranks in the Millennium Stadium. One year after losing to Crystal Palace in the 'richest game in football' West Ham had returned to the Millennium Stadium in Cardiff to secure their return to the FA Premier League.
Alan Pardew’s West Ham United finished in 6th place in the 2004-20005 Football League Championship to qualify for the Football League Championship Play-Off semi-final against 3rd placed Ipswich Town. The first-leg was a 2-2 draw at The Boleyn Ground with Marlon Harewood and Bobby Zamora on target for The Irons. Zamora scored both Hammers goals in the second-leg 0-2 victory at Portman Road, and for the second season in a row The Irons had beaten The Tractor Boys at the semi-final stage of The Football League Championship Play-Offs. During the season Marlon Harewood scored 22 goals in all competitions, Hammer of the Year Teddy Sheringham scored 21 goals in all competitions and Bobby Zamora scored 13 goals in all competitions.
Alan Pardew: "We're back where we belong ... We're back in the Premiership".
Chris Powell: "We've put this club back where it belongs".
