Aston Villa 1994 McGrath No5 Retro Football Shirt
Paul McGrath signed for Aston Villa in August 1989 when Villa manager Graham Taylor agreed a £425,000 transfer fee with Alex Ferguson and Manchester United. Graham Taylor deployed McGrath in a three-man defence alongside Derek Mountfield and Kent Nielsen, and McGrath helped Villa to a second place runners-up spot in the 1989-90 Football League Division One Championship. Four years later under manager Ron Atkinson Villa would be runners-up again this time, in the inaugural FA Premier League, and Paul McGrath was voted 1993 PFA Players' Player of the Year, and claimed his fourth consecutive Aston Villa Player of the Year Award too. In 1994 Paul McGrath helped Aston Villa win the Football League Coca Cola Cup in a 3-1 victory against Manchester Unitedin the finalatWembleyStadium, and two years later Villa and McGrath beat Leeds United 3-0 under the Twin Towers in the final of the same competition. Paul McGrath made 253 appearances, and scored 9 goals in Aston Villa Claret and Blue; is considered one of the greatest Aston Villa players of all-time, revered on The Holte End, and known as 'God' by the Villa faithful.
