Aston Villa launched a new shirt in tandem with the new Muller shirt sponsorship agreement for the second ever FA Premier League season in 1993-94, as squad numbers and names on shirts were introduced by the FA Premier League too. Villa opened the season with a 4 -1 win against QPR at Villa Park when The Holte End witnessed four cracking goals but, only after Villa's new signing and No14 Andy Townsend had threaded the Villa No10 Dalian Atkinson through for the opening goal at The Witton End. Les Ferdinand equalised for Queens Park Rangers with a rocket on 44 minutes, and then Villa No9 Dean Saunders restored Villa's lead with a right foot rocket on 61 minutes, and then Villa No10 Dalian Atkinson scored Villa's third with an even better right foot rocket on 90 minutes, and in added time Villa No3 Steve 'Stan' Staunton struck a swerving, bending, dipping rocket off the outside of his left boot that was pure Roberto Carlos in a Villa shirt. 

Villa ultimately finished 10th in the 1993-94 FA Premier League but went all the way to Wembley in The Coca Cola Football League Cup. Drawn against Birmingham City in the Second Round Villa won both the League Cup Second City derbies by a single goal. Kevin Richardson sealed the First-Leg win, after a Mark Bosnich penalty save, at St Andrew’s, and Dean Saunders scored the only goal of the Second-Leg back at Villa Park. Sunderland were beaten 1-4 at Roker Park in the Third Round with goals from Kevin Richardson, Ray Houghton and a Dalian Atkinson brace. Atkinson scored again in the 0 -1 Fourth Round win against Arsenal at Highbury, and Ray Houghton and Earl Barrett scored the goals in a 1-2 Fifth Round victory versus Spurs at White Hart Lane. The Semi-Final versus Tranmere Rovers is the stuff of legend. Villa were 3-0 down in the First-Leg at Prenton Park before Dalian Atkinson scored a late Villa goal, and Atkinson rescued Villa again in the Second-Leg at Villa Park with another late goal before Mark Bosnich saved 3 Tranmere Rovers penalties in the shoot-out to take Villa to Wembley where Dalian Atkinson had Villa ahead after 3 minutes. Dean Saunders doubled the lead in the second-half before adding a late penalty as Villa beat Manchester United 3-1, and Villa Captain Kevin Richardson lifted the Football League Cup, and the Alan Hardaker Trophy too. Dalian Atkinson and Dean Saunders top-scored with 15 goals each in all competitions, and both Dalian Atkinson and Mark Bosnich are forever inextricably linked to The Villa 1994 Football League Cup triumph from St Andrew’s to Wembley.
