The Chelsea shirt worn throughout the very first FA Premier League season in 1992-93. Oldham Athletic were Chelsea's first opponents on the opening day of the new league, and at Stamford Bridge on Saturday 15 August 1992 Mick Harford scored Chelsea's first FA Premier League goal in a 1-1 draw. The attendance at Stamford Bridge that day, at the dawn of a new age, was 20,699. Chelsea finished that season 11th, exactly half way in the first FA Premier League table, winning 14 games, drawing 14 games and losing 14 games.
Chelsea also wore the shirt throughout the previous 1991-92 season too, most famously in the club's first league victory away at Anfield versus Liverpool since 1935. Vinnie Jones put Chelsea ahead in the 20th minute with a superb strike at The Kop End. Ronnie Rosenthal equalised for Liverpool 10 minutes later but, Dennis Wise claimed the winning goal, receiving a clever pass from Graham Stuart before firing past Bruce Grobbelaar on 75 minutes in front of Chelsea's travelling support on The Anfield Road End.
