The distinctive design third shirt in classic Chelsea away shirt yellow was worn often during the very first FA Premier League season in 1992-93.
After drawing with Oldham Athletic at Stamford Bridge on the opening day of The FA Premier League, with Mick Harford scoring Chelsea's first FA Premier League goal in a 1-1 draw, Chelsea lost 2-1 in midweek away at Norwich City before steadying the ship in a 3-3 thriller against Sheffield Wednesday at Hillsborough. Wearing the yellow third shirt Chelsea fought back from 2-0 down. Vinnie Jones pulled a goal back, and then Chelsea equalised when Graham Stuart scored a great solo goal following a wonderful 60 yard slalom of a run. Eddie Newton put Chelsea in front but a fabulous match, and a fabulous early advertisement for The FA Premier League ended all square at 3-3.
