Deutscher Fußball-Bund und Score Draw Official Retro. DFB Kultige Retro-Fußballtrikots.
Led by Jupp Derwall and captained by Berti Vogts FIFA World Champions West Germany opened the Argentina '78 tournament with a 0-0 draw versus Poland in River Plate Stadium - Estadio Monumental. Then Mexico were beaten 6-0 in Cõrdoba with Dieter Müller, Hansi Müller, Karl-Heinz Rummenigge with two, and Heinz Flohe with two, scoring the goals. Then another 0-0 draw in Cõrdoba this time versus Tunisia qualified West Germany for the second round group stage. Back to Estadio Monumental for another 0-0 draw against Italy, and then the defining match versus Netherlands where goals from Rüdiger Abramczick and Dieter Müller weren't enough in the 2-2 draw in Cõrdoba, as West Germany really needed to win. The last second round group stage match saw Karl-Heinze Rummenigge and Bernd Hölzenbein score in the 2-3 defeat to Austria, again in Cõrdoba. The West Germany 1978 World Cup Finals Shirt remained in service all the way up to the last game before the 1980 UEFA European Championship Final, and Lothar Matthäus made his debut for the Men's National Team wearing the shirt in the 3-2 UEFA '80 victory versus Netherlands in Stadio San Paolo Naples when Klaus Allofs bagged a hat-trick.
