Frank McAvenie
Signed from West Ham United on 2 October 1987, for a then, Celtic record transfer fee of £750,000, Frank McAvennie scored on his Celtic debut the following day in a 1-1 draw with Hibernian at Celtic Park. McAvennie played a major role in Celtic’s 1987-88 Centenary Year League and Cup Double success, scoring 15 goals in 32 league appearances, including both in the 2-0 New Year’s Old Firm victory over Rangers, and both goals in the 2-1 Scottish Cup Final win against Dundee United at Hampden Park.
