Bob Paisley signed Ian Rush from Chester in 1980 for £300,000, then a British transfer record for a teenager.  Rush made his Liverpool debut at Portman Road against Ipswich on 13 December 1980 and went on to become the greatest goalscorer in Liverpool’s history, scoring 346 goals in 660 games, in two spells at Anfield. Rush was voted PFA Young Footballer of the Year in 1993, and in a year when he also won The European Golden Boot, was voted both PFA Footballer of the Year and FWA Footballer of the Year in 1994. In all, Rush won 5 Football League Championships, 3 FA Cups, 5 Football League Cups, and in that unforgettable 1993-94 season, The European Cup too.
